Russell Martin had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Zach Miner pitched 5 strong
innings as the SSB SSB Tar Heels defeated the woeful Streator Reds by the
score of 10 to 8 at Minute Maid Park.
SSB had the winning rally in the bottom of the 8th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Derrek Lee keyed the rally
when he drew a walk. Willie Harris was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Alex Rodriguez then doubled. Curtis Granderson stepped in and
he was walked intentionally. Marco Scutaro stepped into the box and doubled.
SSB had 13 hits for the game and Streator had 6.
Brad Lidge(1-7) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Jonathan
Papelbon(3-3) suffered the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and
surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk.
